Created by Gene Roddenberry and debuting September 8, 1966, this television series aired for three seasons on NBC and then went on to become a cultural touchstone while in syndication which continues to this day! Star Trek follows the interstellar adventures of Captain James T. Kirk and his crew: First officer and science officer Mr. Spock, Dr. McCoy chief medical officer, Montgomery Scott "Scotty" chief engineer, Nyota Uhura communications officer, Pavel Checkov navigator, and Hikaru Sulu helmsman. Designed for the namesake fan association, founded in 1974, the colours in this tartan are: Dark Blue for wisdom, stability & unity; Light Blue representing the Science Division & peace; Yellow for the Command division and joy and happiness; and Dark Red to pay homage to both the Engineering Division and representing leadership, courage, and love. The iconic television series, Star Trek, premiered on September 8th, 1966, to become one of the most influential franchises of all time.
STARFLEET - The International Star Trek Fan Association pays tribute to the legacy and devotion of its many generations of fans with a special tribute tartan.
Of the many contributions Star Trek has made to pop culture, one of the most interesting is the constructed language, Klingon.
The Klingon language was first described in the 1985 book The Klingon Dictionary by Marc Okrand and deliberately designed to sound "alien." It has a number of typologically uncommon features.
The language's basic sound, along with a few words, was first devised by actor James Doohan ("Scotty") and producer Jon Povill for Star Trek: The Motion Picture. That film marked the first time the language had been heard on screen. In all previous appearances, Klingons spoke in English, even to each other.
Klingon was subsequently developed by Okrand into a full-fledged language.
Klingon is sometimes referred to as Klingonese (most notably in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "The Trouble with Tribbles", where it was actually pronounced by a Klingon character as "Klingonee."
A small number of people are capable of conversing in Klingon, but because its vocabulary is heavily centered on Star Trek-Klingon concepts such as spacecraft or warfare, it can sometimes be cumbersome for everyday use.
Hobbyists around the world have studied the Klingon language.
Six Klingon translations of works of world literature have been published: the Epic of Gilgamesh, Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing, The Art of War, and The Little Prince. The Shakespearean choices were inspired by a remark from High Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, who said, "You have not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Klingon."

STARFLEET, The International Star Trek Fan Association was founded in 1974 and is the oldest Star Trek Fan Club in existence. Members of STARFLEET wear uniforms and related fan attire to represent themselves as a member of STARFLEET and a fan of Star Trek. The adoption of a tartan for members to wear was a natural addition. Colours: dark blue represents wisdom, stability & unity; light Blue represents the Science division & peace; yellow represents the Command division and joy and happiness and dark red pays homage to both the Engineering division as well as the "Monster Maroon" uniform and represents leadership, courage, and love.
