Slytherin Pride Day
"Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means,
To achieve their ends.",
~ The Sorting Hat, J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Has the Sorting Hat placed you in House Slytherin under Headmaster Severus Snape? Well, here's your (unofficial) tartan! Slytherin is one of the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter novels and movies. The house colors are emerald green and silver; the corresponding element is water; and the mascot is a serpent!
From the Harry Potter Universe, today is set aside for all those who identify with House Slytherin! Here is one of four unofficial whimsical tartans designed for the four houses of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Designed by Dan Shackelford, all of the house tartans use a grey and black background representing Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. From the designer:
"Slytherin is one of the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter novels and movies. Their house colors are emerald green and silver, their element is water and their animal is a serpent."
Slytherin house values ambition, cunning, leadership, and resourcefulness; the Sorting Hat said in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone that Slytherins will do anything to get their way. The house mascot of Slytherin is the serpent, and the house colours are green and silver. Salazar Slytherin founded the house. The Head of House is Severus Snape until near the end of the sixth book. Then, Horace Slughorn, the previous Head of House, comes out of retirement re-assuming authority. The ghost of Slytherin house is The Bloody Baron. According to Rowling, Slytherin corresponds roughly to the element of water.
