Civil Aviation Day
"Scotland's Airline"
~ Loganair motto
Ah, the joys of flying! Traveling to new and exciting places; crisp bags of pretzels and peanuts; being scanned in the X-ray machine (be sure to assume the position with proper 3rd position highland arms); having to remove your dancing ghillies for security checks; endless waiting and weather delays; the changing of the gates; and of course, your delightful seat companions. Well, at least you can fly in a beautifully tartaned plane in many parts of the world, including Loganair's newest tartan. Many other well-dressed aircraft now sport a bit of tartan on the tail fin or a flash of plaid on the fuselage including JetBlue, easyJet, Westjet and others. Wishing you a stylish and safe journey this travel season!🛩️
The purpose of International Civil Aviation Day is to help generate and reinforce worldwide awareness of the importance of international civil aviation to the social and economic development of States, and of the unique role of ICAO in helping States to cooperate and realize a truly global rapid transit network at the service of all mankind.
Since the 1950s and 60s, aircraft liveries have usually been uniform livery across an entire fleet. One-off custom-designs might be applied from time to time to individual fleet members to highlight set occasions.
An aircraft livery is a set of comprehensive insignia comprising color, graphic, and typographical identifiers which operators (airlines, governments, air forces and occasionally private and corporate owners) apply to their aircraft.
As aircraft liveries evolved in the years after the Second World War, they became a leading subset of the emerging disciplines of corporate identity and branding and among the most prominent examples of fashion.
