Video Games Day
October 18th, 1958 marks the debut of what is considered by many to be the first video games, "Tennis for Two" which simulated a game of tennis, using a Donner Model 30 analog computer and an oscilloscope for a display. American physicist William Higinbotham designed the game for display at the Brookhaven National Laboratory's annual public exhibition. This game was resurrected in 1972 by Atari as "Pong."
One of several tartans for the video game "Rome - Total War," this tartan was originally named 'Predator' but renamed to reflect to the origin of the root word, 'praetor.' The colours were taken from the packaging for Coca Cola, a classic gamer beverage.
The other colour variations of the Praetorian tartan are taken from the game's colours for the Roman factions of red, blue, green and the Senate's imperial purple.
